Giles!
Do you remember the demon that made us all sing? Sweet? He's back again and NO I didn't summon him. He says something about bets, prophecy and rune casting. Anyway below is the link to where we were talking. I swear I don't remember making a bet with him. I remember singing, dancing, and being all reveal-y but not betting.

I, I suppose casting the runes might help, Buffy, but don't you remember any kind of conversation with him? That is, before you ... I, we came in at a point when you were already singing - something about being like other girls, I believe. I did hear a few more words from outside but nothing that would be likely to help.
(er) I don't think I was really myself, by that point. I seem to remember that I realised instantly that your voice was not really strong enough so I, I deputed Anya and Tara to form a backup group. It seemed perfectly logical at the time but now I ... come to look back on it, perhaps it wasn't the most vital strategic necessity.
Did he tell you to call him "Sweet"? Having a name for him might help.
And hey are you saying that I can't sing because I can so sing unlike other people who shall remain nameless but mangle Mandy.
Uh... about the Sweet name thing. That might not really be his name. I asked for it, he was being sarcastic and uh it might have supposed to be an endearment or something. But it might be Rumpelstiltskin. Hey I bet it is! I bet this is another of those stupid fairy tales that come to life but instead of straw to gold he makes you sing and dance.
Buffy, I think you should tell me the exact words, if possible. The exact words. The wording of a legal contract is usually of, of quite extreme importance in deciding how it will be implimented. That demon seemed to be of a somewhat legalistic turn of mind.
I also rather doubt that his having waived the condition about taking a queen if it meant his having to marry Xander would be counted as a defeat by any (er) impartial umpire. He certainly seemed to intend leaving with Dawn, up until that point - and quite frankly I do not really see how we could have prevented him from doing so.
Possibly we could use a chrystal to help you to focus your memory or - Dawn was a witness, wasn't she? She may be unable to sing but her memory is usually good.
Somehow I do find it difficult to believe that the creature's name is Sweet. Many of the demons and powers prefer not to have their real names known because it can give power over them. In any case, his name could be ... oh, a musical phrase or even a combination of scents. Creatures who take human brides or human children have been recorded since our prehistory, and I always rather suspected that Rumpelstiltskin "Threw the match." The way in which the girl learned his name strongly suggests that.
Apparently this is what I said word for word: Deal's this. I can't kill you? You take me to Hellsville in her place.
But, Giles even if I didn't kill him he left and he said we beat the bad guy. At least Ms. Memory said that's what he said.
By the way, I didn't tell her why I wanted to know this. I don't want her involved in whatever this is, Giles.
I think we can probably assume that the bet was time-limited. He made no secret of intending to leave at midnight of that same day, and he apparently intended to take Dawn with him.
He did say, "You beat the bad guy," I remember that myself - and he did leave... At least, he apparently left. I seem to remember that we went on singing for some time afterwards, in chorus; that does seem to strongly suggest that he didn't go far.
However, Buffy that wasn't the bet. Think about the actual wording. I don't know why he has waited and returned now, but it does seem likely that he ... well, bluntly, that he has a claim on you.
OMG! Are you saying I'm engaged to singing man? Could my love life suck anymore? Don't answer that. I'm not sure I want to know the answer if it's yes.
Further, I do recall your asking him for something to sing about and, and... Do you have any idea of how this could, would be be perceived even by a human court?
At that, he could be an improvement on ..." Stops and takes a very deep breath.
"How could you have been so, so unwary?"
OH! We can so use insanity. I plead insanity. Seriously, just point out my dysfunctional relationship with Spike at the time, my being pulled from heaven, my dying for like the hundredth time. Any and all should cover that pretty good don't you think?
*sighs*
Giles, I was in a really dark place then and I didn't really care about anything. Living or dying. I just wanted to save Dawnie and I didn't care if I died or not at that point.
On the evidence, you offered to go with him as his wife. It's hardly surprising that he returned to take you up on it. The only surprising thing is that he did not do so sooner.
I wonder why that was? Possibly the stars had to be propitious, or the like. Some cultures do take such things into account when planning the day for a marriage, even on Earth. However, the fact seems to be that he does intend to come for you, apparently in the near future. *Giles suddenly looks a little startled.*
Wait, you were already with Spike? Perhaps that might explain it. Perhaps he could not take you if you already had a relationship. In that case you might possibly ... no, no indeed; it is, after all, only a hypothesise.
I wasn't with Spike in the physical, but the emotional. He was the only one I could talk to. No offense to you or Willow or the others. Just that I couldn't tell you that I'd been in heaven or at peace.
He understood.
Think of some of the situations we have encountered, some of the creatures... vampire worshippers, succubi, creatures looking for hosts for hellish spawn.
I have never heard of a claim that the humans involved being, being of unsound mind representing some kind of release clause. It simply doesn't...
I really did not get the impression that the creature would be easy to kill, either, or to dissuade. I, I will research, of course, but ...
Come on! We've stopped a million apocalypses, apocalypsi, whatever. We've defeated the First Evil, and Willow activated the Slayer Line. We should be able to figure out a way to kill him or get me out of the marriage.
